Glass-ceramics of a high thermal expansion coefficient are needed for several applications. For example, it is necessary to provide nonmagnetic substrates for the attachment of ferrite components, and these must be closely matched in thermal expansion coefficient to the ferrite material. At present, barium titanate ceramic is typically used for this application, but this is unsatisfactory because of the inconsistency of properties and the occurrence of porosity.
