Abstract

An improved air track design is described. This configuration (Fig. 1) contains an air-fed plenum 10 connecting all the channel manifolds 12. The improvement in design resides in the film hole diameters and their inclinations with respect to the track. Referring also to Figs. 2 and 3, the film holes 14 of diameter d and length Alpha are inclined at angles Delta and Theta. The film hole diameters are largest for the outermost rows 21 and smallest for the innermost rows 23. The angle Delta is largest for row 21 and smallest for row 23, while the other angle Theta is smallest for row 21 and largest for row 23. The row spacings and the hole spacing are the same as for other track designs. In essence, the basic scheme consists of three pairs of film holes of a given diameter and resultant inclination.
