Abstract

A low-cost manufacturing process for generating nomenclature on keybuttons on a personalized basis is described, wherein the finished keybuttons resulting from the various manufacturing modes for introducing legend onto blank button packs are made in accordance with the following guidelines: 1) Keybutton surfaces are fabricated with a mat or dull finish. 2) Personalization is performed at keybutton assembly area. 3) The keybutton surfaces are fabricated to have long wear characteristics. 4) The characters on the keybuttons are to be optically dense, have high contrast and good resolution. 5) Nonsmearing characters of archival quality are to be provided. 6) The characters on the keybuttons may be of different colors. 7) The system is chemically stable and compatible. 8) The chemicals used in the system are nontoxic.
