Weather damage repair and construction economy in solar concentrators can be improved by making the concentrator surface out of a coated flexible material and holding the flexible concentrator surface in place with tension members. This construction, where two end supports are maintained in position by rigid separating supports, lends itself to complex parabolic concentrator surface shapes, such as the Winston-type collector, by supporting the flexible concentrator surface material with tension members attached between the rigid end supports. Roller capability is provided on which the flexible concentrator material may be rolled during periods of severe weather stress.
