Described is a chassis ground wire socket attachment arrangement onto an existing anchorage fastener.
a chassis ground wire socket attachment
arrangement onto an existing anchorage fastener.
ground wire (1) from a circuit board (2) to
chassis (3) ground is a requirement to pass device electrostatic
discharge testing. The fastener (4) (screw) which holds the
connector assembly (5) with said circuit board (2) to the chassis (3)
is unique by having a profile of a male terminal (6) after its
threads. The circuit board ground wire (1) with socket and housing
(7) engages onto this male terminal portion (6) of the fastener (4)
after the connector assembly (5) is attached to the chassis (3).
Therefore, there is a direct chassis ground loop between the circuit
board (2), connector (5), and chassis (3).
The arrangement eliminates costly and
modifications associated with known conventional methods and is
applicable to all styles and types of connectors.
