Adjustable Flow Restrictor for Runner System of Plastic Molds

      Disclosed is a method of balancing the fill of each
cavity in a mold with multiple cavities especially in coinjection
molding for controlling the skin/core relationship or thickness.

      The function, method and location of the adjustable flow
restrictor are shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

      By use of an adjustable flow restrictor, the flow or speed of
the material as it enters the cavity can be controlled independently
for each cavity.

      The radius or ball-shaped end will help reduce turbulence that
may be set up by this restrictor in the runner system.  The
restrictor can be adjusted while the mold is in the press.
