Disclosed is a unique high volume and secure web based solution that integrates the legacy order management systems at the manufacturer with its suppliers' and logistics partners' business processes by using the following technologies:
1. PDF 417 2D Barcode technology for creating highly accurate, resilient barcodes for the various control documents and labels used to manage the shipments;
2. A unique distributed Internet based high volume printing technique using applet technology that utilized the Java* Printing Services (JPS) to deliver the control documents and labels to a variety of thermal transfer printers attached to the suppliers' and logistics partners' workstations;
3. A J2EE** based highly available, scalable web application based on Websphere*** Application server that provides the ability for users to access the system and its functions from a browser and to execute functions such as Kanban label and report viewing and printing; Adobe Output Designer and Present Central Pro to support various printer and report formats while bringing the creation and maintenance of the shipping documents under the control of the manufacturer.
