Abstract

Many disposable absorbent pant products such as diaper-pants and training pants are typically made with side seams that can be torn apart after the product is used. This feature is helpful because the pant can be removed quickly by separating the side seams and the chance of further soiling the skin of the user is lessened compared to pulling the product down off the legs and feet. Ideally the side seam bond holds the elastic side panels securely together from the waist opening to the leg opening during product wear. They can then be easily and comfortably separated by hand without use of scissors or other aids. An improved seam design has been found that alleviates two problems associated with tearing the side seams for product removal.
