This idea proposes a method to reduce image quality problems associated with toner aging in an electrophotographic printer that uses single component development. The proposal is a periodic development of a strip of toner in interdocument zones. This would limit the maximum residence time of toner on the donor rolls. It is believed that image quality problems (in low throughput conditions) are due to a change in the properties of the toner that remains for extended periods on the donor roll, passing many times through the loading zone and under the charging blade.
