Method for classification of buddies in Instant Messenger

Instant messaging is a very popular means of communication. As the list of buddies' added increases, people are required to rearrange their buddies in different groups e.g. people working on Project A are added under Group A, personal contacts are added under Group Personal etc. This helps the end user in normal circumstances but there is also a need to look at buddies from different view point. For example - When the end user is low in confidence, who is the best person or buddy to talk to ?, or, When the end user needs some info about spirituality who is the best buddy to talk to ? etc. This will change the current way of looking at buddies and help users to contact right person at different scenarios arising out of personal experiences. In summary, there is a need to provide a mechanism that can enable user to very quickly, easily and visually identify user's character classification.

The disclosed method is to have a mechanism to automatically classify the character of the buddy based on chat logs and related information in Instant Messenger (IM). This method can be atomized to meet the need of the end user for better socialization.
