One of the basic problems for building servers is the limitation of the pipe, or bandwidth, into the server. Many servers today come standard with multiple Network Interface Cards (NIC) and system administrators have the ability to set up NIC teaming, however, there is not an existing system to make those decisions automatically when installing an operating system or applications.
Writing a script or scripts to activate NIC teaming is not good enough in a high performance environment as it still takes human decision making to perform the work. Evaluations of the available network bandwidth, the optimal bandwidth required to complete the operation, and the reconfiguration of NIC and NIC teaming must be dynamically implemented via automated routines without necessitating any human intervention.
