Method to Resolve Availability and Scaling Issues for Visualization Engine Web Service Providers
In a traditional, Highly Available (HA) End Point Reference (EPR) QoS Solution, each HA EPR represents a unique HA group within a WebSphere* Application Server (WAS) HA cluster environment. However, in accordance with the method, one or more HA EPRs are grouped in a partition. Each partition is provided with HA object identification (ID). This approach reduces the number of required HA groups within the WAS HA cluster environment and achieves better overall system performance and scaling capability.
In an exemplary implementation of the method, IBM WAS V6.1 and XD (Extended Deployment) product installation is required along with WS-Addressing HA EPR QoS feature support.
As per the method, the Virtualization Enginge (VE) Foundation Web Services (WS) providers and Web Services Distributed Management (WSDM) & Management Using Web Services (MUWS) manageable resource instances are grouped into one or more HA partitions. A partition is created based on a horizontal or a vertical impact scope. For instance, any similar functionality WS EPR services, such as Server specialization Managed Resources (MRs), Storage specialization MRs, or Network specialization MRs, require consolidation within a single hosting operating system. Therefore, they can be grouped together into a unique partition name. Thereafter, based on the unique partition...
