Disclosed is a process for obtaining MultiDimensional eXpressions (MDX) text of a data source named set and replaces it with an MDX query named set with the same definition as the data source named set. The disclosed process enables existing query planning rules and transformations to be applied to the named set, notably the resolution of the levels represented by a named set. The disclosed process is typically more efficient in terms of query execution time, especially for named sets, which represent a large set of members.
