A method to allow browser to automatically change passwords for the URLs in a group

Web browser allows its users to manage websites that require an account/

password into groups.

The user puts all the web sites that have the same username and password into a group. Password change at one web site is propagated to all the web sites within the same group. This requires an API provided by the web server to change an account holders password by the browser without manual intervention.

The basic idea is to define an API (

connect to each web site in the group and change the password for the given username when the

password is changed at one web site. The new API should be defined that will allow a browser to

change password for a specific user account in a website. i.e the browser running on a desktop can change password for an account in XXX (or XXX email account etc.).

This will take the following arguments:

- URL in the domain where the password needs to be changed.

- username

- old password

- new password

- challenge questions and answers.

- an encryption key, which was pre-established

Web sites that require a username/

password to authenticate, allow this API. Browsers use this

API to change password for each web site when the user changes password at one web site. This helps the user to have the same password at multiple web sites .

provided by the server) and make the browser use this API to
