The present disclosure relates to halogenated propylene-containing polymers and methods for making these polymers. Halogenated polyolefins are known. Halogenated polypropylenes, such as chlorinated polypropylene have a variety of uses in elastomeric, thermoplastic and thermoset applications. A new type of propylene-based elastomer/plastomer having a unique molecular architecture has been developed recently as disclosed in U.S. Patent No. 6,960,635, the contents of which are incorporated by reference herein in its entirety. These unique propylene-based polymers provide a wide range of application benefits including excellent optics, sealing and hot tack performance, elasticity, flexibility, softness and compatibility in blends. When halogenated, these unique propylene-based elastomers/plastomers will provide films, fibers, sheets and molded parts with unexpected and unpredictable properties with enhanced utility over the original propylene-based polymer. The industry maintains a continuing interest in new halogenated propylene-based elastomers and plastomers, particularly those compatible with polyvinylchloride, polypropylene, polyethylene, and blends of the same.
