Fraud prevention and identity theft is a serious problem. Current fraud detection

systems are most commonly triggered when the victim reports their payment or

personal information (e.g., credit or debit card, information on a cellular phone) as lost

or stolen.

Current solutions and enabling technologies include:
• Adaptive Fraud Prevention. (1) The drawback to this method is that it is based

on suspicious changes in behavior; therefore, it takes a long time to be triggered

because it is based on seasonal and long-term customer trends.
• Geo-tracking. Current technology can determine the location of an individual.
• Browser-based Maps. Current technology can determine the time it takes to get

from one point to another and the multiple modes of transportation that can be

used to get there.

The disclosed solution is a way of generating a valid physical range between the

physical point of transaction and a trackable device in terms of time elapsed. Payment

objects (e.g., credit card, mobile payment) that have been duplicated will result in the

recognition of usage outside of the valid range. The process of the system follows:
1. The customer initiates a transaction.
2. The system determines the location of the transaction (and the customer) so that

the location of the transaction is known in terms of Global Positioning System

(GPS), address, Latitude/Longitude coordinates, etc.; this is POINT A at TIME X.
3. After every transaction, the system generates a valid range from that starting
