High voltage disconnectors usually incorporate at least one motor driven actuator to provide a means of mechanical movement. However, existing designs of high voltage disconnectors need to have two independent motor drives to operate the disconnector and/or the earth switch. These motor drives are usually placed separately within a so-called motor drive box. This design can not be used to be accommodated in low voltage rating disconnectors because of the occupied space for two separate motor drive boxes which is critical in these types of disconnectors. Additionally, each single motor drive box needs to have separate control supply components, cabling and wiring.
