Disclosed is a method and apparatus to enable multi-channel sensors based high accuracy locating in mobile devices. The method firstly uses traditional locating method such as GPS to get the raw location, and capture the surrounding information by the built-in multi-sensors, including the camera, the digital compass and three-axis gyro. Then it will match the surrounding information (image) with a pre-built global surrounding information database. By using the raw location, the 3D direction of the camera, the proposed method could achieve a much faster matching speed. Finally the precise location of the mobile device can be calculated by the surrounding object’s location.
