When in web application, users often report an issue or problem with attaching screen shots in defect. The screen shots contain the visible information that testers would like to communicate with developers, this way is called "straight forward" information collection method, that means developers can only see the specific information provided by testers. Actually, there are several drawbacks of such approach:

1) Mostly the explicit information are not quite sufficient for developers to investigate problems.

2) Developers have to communicate with testers for more information, this would bring extra effort, especially for distributed teams more communication cost needed.

3) Developers can not obtain the expected information timely.

4) Testers may not provide the exact information the development team expects.

5) The information cared by developers may be meaningless for testers (like URL of the web page), or difficult to retrieve by testers (like the application node name of the cluster, which is important for log retrieval) etc, but these kinds of information is very helpful for the problem investigation.

6) Some times, testers may feel overburdened as they do not care about these information at all.

When taking a look at the drawbacks listed above, both development team and testing team would feel frustrated. That's why the new information collection method is required - it can make their work life easier.

This invention describes a method to automatically collect implicit information when senders provide the explicit information as usual. With this method, whatever implicit information the receivers want can be collected easily without senders' awareness. That is so called 'inversion' comparing the current 'straight forward' information collection method. Developers can get the implicit information accurately and timely, at the same time liberate testers from onerous information collecting workload and reduce the further communication cost.


1) Information senders (testers) don't feel anything different, the method is totally transparent for them.

2) Information receivers (developers) can timely and quickly obtain the accurate information in one off communication.

3) Information receivers can obtain the useful implicit information actively.

4) Information receivers' investigative work lives get easier.

5) This method can extremely decrease the redundant communications between developer and tester.
