A removal adapter device for a flexible ring retractor such as a flexible annular ring retractor. The tool and method are conducive to use with a retractor constructed from a more fragile material such as silicone elastomers, but still manage stronger and stiffer retractors such as those constructed from polyurethanes.

Adapter Hook and Method for Removal of a Flexible Cannula or Retractor  Summary
A removal adapter device for a flexible ring retractor such as a flexible annular ring retractor.  The tool

and method are conducive to use with a retractor constructed from a more fragile material such as  silicone elastomers, but still manage stronger and stiffer retractors such as those constructed from  polyurethanes.

Removal of soft elastomeric material retractors from an abdominal wound becomes increasingly difficult  with smaller sized surgical incisions.  The flexible annular ring is larger than the incision size and is  difficult to reach with a finger due to its size.

Removal of an annular ring retractor becomes exceptionally difficult for smaller sizes where the surgeon  can only place 1 or 2 fingers into the incision.  Reaching the ring with a finger or other readily available  tool is difficult and time consuming.

A re‐attachable/removable adapter piece which attaches to an insertion tool to remove one annular ring  of a flexible ring fixed length retractor after it is installed into an abdominal wound.

A hook shaped adapter which attaches to an insertion tool allows the surgeon to hook the flexible  annular ring inside the abdomen.  The ad...
