The disclosure provides a light emitting diode (LED) fixture. The LED fixture has an optical diffuser. The diffuser hides the LEDs and offers a high efficiency of light distribution. The LED fixture has one or more LEDs positioned below and above of the optical diffuser. The optical diffuser has a desired scattering angle to provide enough hiding power. The thickness of the optical diffuser varies according to the LED light intensity received on the diffuser.

The present invention relates generally to lighting technologies and more particularly to a Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixture having a variable thickness diffuser for improved efficiency of light distribution and hiding power.
In conventional LED fixtures, a diffuser is used to avoid contrast of light intensity. The contrast is generated due to non uniform intensity distribution. Generally, a Lambertian diffuser is utilized in the conventional LED fixtures. The Lambertian diffuser scatters more light and makes overall intensity uniform. However, the Lambertian diffuser presents a problem due to strong back reflection. The back reflection is about 40%. As a result, the current LED fixtures offer poor efficiency of about 80-85%. Further, the conventional LED fixtures systems have less scattering efficiency and are unable to provide uniform distribution of light.
It would be desirable to have LED fixtures that provide improved efficiency of light distribution and hiding power.
The proposed disclosure provides a light emitting diode (LED) fixture. The LED fixture has a Lambertian diffuser that offers high hiding power for LEDs and efficient light distribution.
