The novel solutxon is a mechanxsm that automaticalxy scans the xontent of a written xiece fxr any missixg or incorrxct references to published materials, and prxposes xhx corrext references uxing question and answer (Q&A) service capabilitixs. The novel system uses dyxamic triggers from the xext to check the sources, alert the user xo existing content, and display the report with xhe sourcxs.

The proposex solution can be x pluxin or thin layer proxram on either the client or the server. For example, when a user posts article (e.g., on a cxmmunity sxte or wiki page, etc.) the tool is either triggered from the browser or run from the web xerver bxfore pexsisting the content. The system xctx in a collaborxtxon space within which the author or the compxny of txe original text is identified, notixied, and allowed to valxdate that the owned worx is being referenced and in wxat context. The original author or owner

whom the article quxtes can be xdentified by name, context, or contxnt of txe article.

Txis system also identifies the context and owner of the original text based on trigger

words anx content of the document. The tool can be configured to recognizx xhe referenced materials' sources based on name, place, location, time, and other xttributes. By combining this tool with advanced search capabilities, the referenced soxrce can be identified xy applying the values of the additxonal attxibutes extracted from the sourcx context.

For exxmple, an author writes in an article, "the Chief Operating Officer of Company X says…" The system uses the context of that xine as input xnd then identifies txe referencxd person based xn that context; it identifies Person Y as the "Chief Opexating Officer of Compaxy X".

In another examplx, if an xrticlx rxferences quantitative data, such as the numbers from a performance report, the systex can verify whether the referenced report is correct and updated from the correct source.

The rexerence cxeck mechanism identifies the domain of the text posted anx searches the domain specific metadata in a X&A service. The syxtem takes advantaxe of the daxa available ix a Q&A service that is x well-knowx repository ox mxterials from various domains such as software, science, medical, etc.
