As time goes by, an increasing number of Apps are being installed on smart phones or other touchscreen devices. Imagine when a user intends to use an App to deal with the data of the current operation, the user has to exit the current operation interface and find the target App, and then open the App. Sometimes the user needs to slip several screens to find the target App, which is time consuming and is not user friendly. This article describes a method that can store the format type of the data input and provide suggestion on candidate applications.

The core ideas are:
When the user selects a specific data element, a list of recommended Apps is offered for the user to select.
The recommended Apps are selected based on the data type and the list is optimized and prioritized based on the user's operation history (e.g. frequency of each App being used).
To associate data types to each App, the system records the available data source formats for each App installed on the smart phone or other touchscreen devices.
A method of recording each App and their corresponding available data source formats is provided. The format of the data could be text, picture, video or audio, etc. The system will analyze the data by using different methods depends on different formats.

2) Figure 1 shows the application data source (APP-DS) DB that is created automatically. When the user uses an App with a certain type of data at the first time, the APP-DS DB saves the record, which indicates that this type of data corresponds to this function of the App. This process is running in the system background and is transparent to the user.

3) Figure 2 shows the process of using the APP-DS DB to prioritize the available App list.
Through querying the APP-DS DB, the system knows all of the Apps that can be used for the data that the user
