A series of photo taken from the same object with similar angle can take away a lot of disk space. (Especially when they are in HD) In order to lower down the storage cost, our invention use the motion compensation method to reduce the size of a group of photo. The invention takes the idea of video compression method by identifying & grouping similar photo together and only store the difference between them. The cost of storing the difference of each similar photo is much lesser than storing the whole picture file.

The current picture compressing method is unable to reduce this much file size compare to ours (about 60%). Our invention is a better way to store image file by achieving lower storage cost without sacrificing the quality of the image.

The core idea is to help compress images files in a smart way which can increase the compress rate. The idea can be divided into 2 parts. In the 1st part, the idea uses a smart way to diagnose and analyze a group of image files. The image files can either be a series of photos which might be taken in the same day or same cameras, smart phones or they can be similar image files from different resources. The idea will present a diagnosis method to diagnose these image files by using different conditions(time, location, direction) with current device sensors(gyroscope, compass, accelerometer, GPS..etc). By using these conditions, it can determine the target image files and then divide them in different groups.

The 2nd part of the idea represents a new compress method for the image files. By using the 1st part of the method, a series of images, or similar images will be grouped and then the idea uses the current motion compensation technique to divide each images files to previous frames and future frames, the motion compensation is an algorithmic technique used to predict a frame in a video, given the previous and/or future frames by accounting for motion of the camera and/or objects in the video. By using the motion compensation method and the grouping technique, most of the same part in each image files can be pointed to the same previous fame. By using this method, the idea composed a new compression technique to compress the similar images files which is only save the different part of the images and keep the same part in one frame. This method helps the compression ratio increased a lot. Moreover, after unzipping the compressed file, each file can recover to original file as before.
