An efficient vibration-resistant tube fitting for hydraulic joints without the use of sealants or other methods is disclosed. The invention combines a ferrule type of tube fitting and a locking thread system into one product that allows more effective sealing of hydraulic joints. The device includes a fitting with a special female locking thread for a standard ferrule joint. The fitting with a locking wedge ramp root section in the female thread accommodates a regular helical external V-shape thread configuration. The front ferrule creates a seal against the fitting body and on the tubing outside diameter, while the locking thread on the tube fitting prevents the nut from loosening when in use. Advantages of the invention include prevention of loosening of the hydraulic fitting or leaks, with a single step process.
Generally, in hydraulic systems having high vibration or rapid cycling, tube fittings tend to loosen over time. A standard thread profile can loosen over time due to the geometry of the thread profile itself. For better sealing between the tube and the pressurized fluid, ferrule type fittings are used in hydraulic connections. However, high vibration can cause even ferrule type seals to loosen over time, resulting in leaks. Self-locking internal thread forms could make a vibration-resistant locking female thread. In order to prevent leaks in hydraulic systems, methods such as locking wire or adhesive sealing of threads are used. However, these existing solutions require an additional step. Therefore, there is a need for a simple single-step method for securing hydraulic system joints against vibration.
