One of the major advantages of mobile devices is that they can be used it in any places. Mobile devices enable people to digestcontent including movies or browsing web pages anywhere. But if the scene or picture in the mobile device screen becomes dark, while the environment is notdark enough, problems will occur that the content cannot be identified clearly, and users have to adjust the brightness of the screen manually. When the scene in the movie becomes bright again, the brightness of the screen will be dazzling, and users have to repeat the process of adjusting the brightness of the screen. Mobile devices available in the markets can only adjust their brightness according to the environment, but they cannot adjust based on the content.

A method is provided to adjust the brightness of screen via the light sensor and image processing algorithm. The light censor adjusts the screen brightness with the change of environment. This disclosure combines the light censor with image processing, which is used to detect whether the screen is displaying content of a dark nature or low contrast ratio.

The light sensor integrated in devices can be used to detect the brightness of the environment. An image processing algorithm should be introduced to analyze the brightness of the content displayed by screen. Following case should not be detected as dark content:
