A technique for enhancing decision capability of a care giver by displaying cardiotocograph data trend is proposed. The proposed technique displays the trend and instantaneously recorded data captured by a cardiotocograph (CTG) continuously in a user interface (UI). The data displayed helps the care giver stay situation aware. According to the proposed invention, irrespective of which page of the user UI of workflow of the CTG the care giver lands on and is engaged with, the care giver is always able to see the current status of the patient.
The present disclosure relates generally to fetal monitoring and more particularly to a technique for enhancing decision capability of a care giver by displaying cardiotocograph data trend.
Generally, situation awareness involves continuously monitoring events in a task environment in order to understand context or what is going on presently and anticipate or predict what might happen in the next instant, next few minutes or next few hours. Failures in situation awareness have been associated with industrial accidents in aviation and many other work environments.
Good situation awareness is critical in all areas of healthcare, especially in acute medicine when changes in the patient`s condition have to be responded to promptly, for example during anesthesia. Situation awareness for anticipating or thinking ahead about an action to be taken is of great significance for surgeons. Therefore, continuous monitoring and awareness of status of patients who are critical or unstable, is pre-requisite for sound situation awareness of care givers. Though there are various techniques available for continuous monitoring of patients, keeping the care givers aware and conscious of critical data while monitoring multiple parameters at the same time remains a challenge.
One such healthcare area is pregnancy management, which involves monitoring various parameters of the mother and fetus simultaneously. Good situation awareness is critical for safe delivery fetus and maintaining the mother and the infant in stable health. While various fetal monitors are available, care givers struggle to keep up with the data being generated by the monitors due to information overload.
It would be desirable to a technique for enhancing decision capability of a care giver by displaying cardiotocograph data trend.
