Description: As described below, a window light curtain of a work vehicle cab that senses operator presence in
certain areas and communicates with the vehicle control unit to disable or limit various machine functions based on the sensor data, is disclosed.
In a work machine (including, but not limited to, an off‐road work machine such as a backhoe loader), the operator station may include a cab that provides a comfortable and safe work environment for the machine operator. In the example of a backhoe loader, the operator station conventionally includes a seat that is reversible so that it faces forwardly when the vehicle is in transit or when the loader portion of the machine is being operated and faces rearwardly while the backhoe is being operated, the controls for the respective machines being appropriately located for manipulation by the operator in the alternate positions of the seat.
Since it is important that the operator have good visibility of the operating equipment, the cabs have conventionally been provided with large windows that essentially provide 360° of visibility, except for the necessary posts that provide support for the doors and the roof. For good ventilation during operation of the machine, it may be desirable that the cabs have windows that can be opened, and remain open when the machine is operating. Additionally, cabs may be configured such that the windows may be removed completely. It is also common for cabs to have areas that are open to the outside with no windows at all.
