Abstract

This technical disclosure proposes the design of decal pasting tool to paste variety of decal sizes. Conventionally operator has to remove backing sheet of the decal then he has to paste the decal to a desired surface with the help of squeegee tool to remove trapped air bubbles followed by removing protective sheet from top of the decal. Thus sticking of long decal becomes an operation of high and complex work content and the desired quality mostly depends on the operator skills. The proposed design gives two alternatives to paste the decal by ensuring optimum pressure application on decal and simultaneously peeling off the backing sheet. First alternative proposes a design of decal pasting tool with pressing roller, guide roller, optional guide, positioning pin and pressure sensor along with single separator wall to peel off the backing sheet. So tool can be moved in a single direction to paste the decal. Second alternative proposes a design of decal pasting tool with guide attached to the pressing roller itself and two separator walls arranged on both sides of pressing roller so as to allow the tool to operate in both the directions to paste the decal. The proposed concept enables decal pasting operation to become less time consuming and process driven rather than dependent on operator skills.

Description:

The proposed designs of decal pasting tool in accordance with this technicaldisclosure is advantageous as compared to conventional method. Conventionally pasting of decal involves the following work elements: removing of rear side backing sheet, sticking of decal using squeegee tool to remove trapped air bubbles and removing of protective sheet from top of the decal. Thus while pasting large number of decals, the operation becomes complex and time consuming also desired quality depends on operator skills. Whereas with proposed tool, operator has to peel off the backing sheet at one end then position the decal between pressing roller and positioning pin to lock it in operating position using the positioning pin while position the peeled off backing sheet on the other side of separator wall and move the decal pasting tool to paste the decal on the surface. It will perform decal pasting as well as peeling off the backing sheet simultaneously. It als...
