Method and System for Social Collaboration Abandonment and Recommending Face to Face Interactions

Disclosed is a method and system for determining when and where to recommend a face to face interaction, rather than constant social media blitz. The method and system determines the distance a user is from other mobile users within a network, to possibly engage the users in face to face interactions. This provides users the opportunities to log off their devices and transition over to a real human face to face interaction between one or more people for certain situations or particular topics. Further, the method and system provides users a means that will make a recommendation for both single users as well as groups of people.

The method and system identifies users within a social network when the users come into a defined proximity/space of one another. The method and system then determines when to recommend face to face interaction between users, rather than a constant barrage of social media exchanges or events, relating to user's physical proximity. Further, the method and system identifies single users and groups of users pertaining to subjects, interactions, and the ability to recommend a "group" meeting based on a majority of users being in the near physical vicinity.

Furthermore, the method and system determines the "value" utilizing structured sentiment analysis of a face to face meeting and another method to determine the best "timing" to recommend a face to face exchange. The method and system further determines an appropriate time to bring in a third party, for example, for moderating abilities, because that person has a net positive/calming influence on the other two.

Finally, the method and system alerts a person of someone in the person’s network with whom the person experiences negative exchanges, so that the person could either avoid them or engage in a face to face interaction with them, such that it may improve their online relationship.

Further, the method and system recommends face to face discussions in contextual situations such as, if two people have not met for a long time. Also, additional discussion content, such as, but not limited to, venue or timing and other participants are recommended, if the two people decided to have face to face communication. For example, the method and system may recommend a face to face discussion during coffee timing outside the office building. In another example, if user A and user B have decided to have a face to face conversation, the method and system may ask user A and user B if user C can also join.

In accordance with an embodiment, the steps executed by the method and system are as follows.

Firstly, the method and system identifies the entire contextual scope to be monitored based on the user’s selections and definitions. The user selects which social media exchanges are to be monitored by the system, which people in the user’s network are to be automatically monitored, the overall...
