Abstract

Techniques are presented that utilize online neighbors to establish an indirect connection between abnormal nodes and a remote Network Management System (NMS). This can be used for debugging and maintaining abnormal nodes in mesh networks. An indirect connection is established through the neighbors of abnormal nodes between the NMS and abnormal nodes. This may require an optimal selection among the online neighbors. A virtual interface is brought up on both the abnormal node and the relay node to act as an interface of application layer protocols. A source routing method presents the route of packets between the NMS and the abnormal nodes. This significantly improves Connected Grid Mesh (CG-MESH) serviceability.
