Abstract

Techniques are described herein to implement multi-factor authentication for physical security systems based on the location and authenticity of an associated mobile device. A valid physical card key that is swiped at a security terminal permits entry to a location only if an associated mobile wireless device, with the correct credentials validated by the enterprise wireless network, is present at the same time and location as the card key.
