Emulsifiable concentrate fungicidal formulations comprising (1) Prothioconazole using N,N-

Dimethyl-9-Dodecenamide as a solvent or (2) Prothioconazole using Pelargonic acid based polar

dimethylamide and/or N-Butylpyrrolidone as a solvent.

Emulsifiable concentrate formulations are a blend of active ingredient, organic solvent, and

surfactants. When the solution is diluted into water a spontaneous milky emulsion forms. When

sprayed this dilute emulsion gives a uniform and accurate application of active ingredient on the

crop, which is essential for effective pest or fungal control.

Prothioconazole is a systemic fungicide with protective, curative and eradicative properties belonging to

the demethylation inhibitor (DMI) fungicide group.

The composition may be used in control of fungal infection in crops such as winter cereals by

dilution of the concentrate in water and application to the crops to control or inhibit fungal

infestation at a rate of 0.7Litres/hectare.

This disclosure describes the use of recently commercialised solvents for use as solvents in a 250g/L

Prothioconazole emulsifiable concentrate formulation. The selected solvent(s) must be able to

completely dissolve the Prothioconazole and any surfactants and form a satisfactory emulsion on

addition to water.

Three solvents were investigated:

A) N,N-Dimethyl-9-Dodecenamide

B) N-Butylpyrrolidone

C) Pelargonic acid based polar dimethylamide

The above solvents can be used to solubilise Prothioconazole at the target concentration and the

selected surfactants.
