The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for the optimization of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) Fast Reroute (FRR) Auto Facility Bypass Tunnels to avoid loops and overlapping segments, eliminating repeated links in an FRR protection scenario, and FRR path selection for MPLS User-Network Interface (UNI) protected Label Switched Paths (LSP). With respect to loops, the systems and methods provide automatic creation of Bypass Tunnels through modified Constrained Shortest Path First (CSPF). With respect to overlapping segments, the systems and methods also provide automatic creation of Bypass Tunnels with re-signaling if there are overlapping segments. With respect to repeated links, the systems and methods allow a Point of Local Repair (PLR) to recompute a FB tunnel to avoid repetition in terms of nodes. With respect to optimized path selection, FB tunnels are determined considering least cost.
